1. Pre-Procedure Preparation
The success of a colonoscopy relies heavily on how well the colon is cleaned beforehand.
The Preparation Phase:

2. The Endoscopy / Colonoscopy Procedure
You will be asleep and comfortable, feeling absolutely nothing while the specialist works.
The Clinical Process:
- Deep Sedation: A mild intravenous sedative is administered. You will fall into a light sleep and wake up feeling like only a minute has passed.
- HD Visualization: The gastroenterologist inserts a thin, flexible tube with a high-definition camera (endoscope/colonoscope) to examine the lining of your esophagus/stomach or your large intestine.
- Intervention: If any polyps (small growths) are found during the colonoscopy, the doctor will immediately remove them using tiny tools passed through the scope. This action directly prevents cancer.

3. Immediate Recovery and Results
Recovery is fast, and you will receive a preliminary report immediately after waking up.
Post-Procedure:
- Awakening: You will wake up in a recovery room. You may feel slightly groggy or bloated (due to air used to inflate the colon), but this passes quickly.
- Doctor’s Report: The gastroenterologist will show you high-definition photos of your internal tract and explain their findings immediately.
- Biopsy Results: If any tissue samples or polyps were removed, they are sent to the pathology lab. A detailed microscopic analysis report is usually available within a few days to a week.
